Famous Poker Players Nicknames
Since the beginning of poker in the old days, players would earn nicknames. They would earn these names for a variety of reasons. Here are just some of the nicknames and why they earned them.
Doyle “Texas Dolly” Brunson – his name was misread as Dolly by Jimmy “The Greek” Snyder and then it became impossible to forget
Barry “Robin Hood of Poker” Greenstein – aptly named because he donates all his tournament winnings to charity
Phil “Poker Brat” Hellmuth – a great player with a lot of attitude and very vocal after any beat
Men “The Master” Nguyen – he began giving lessons and one of his students called him “the young master”. He told them he wasn’t young and it became “The Master”
Julius Oral “Little Man” Popwell – he was 5’ 6” and 300 lbs, need we say more…

Phil “The Unabomber” Laak – a mathematician who wears nothing but grey hoodies and has quite a closet full of them
Dan “Action Dan” Harrington – aptly earned his name because of the way he plays he tries to invoke action in the game
Paul “X22” Magriel – when he bets, he bets in multiples of 22 and will say “Quack Quack” for a bet of 22 and “Double Quack Quack” for bets of 44.
Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi – Upcoming star who is known for his style of play where he just keeps grinding at the poker table and building more and more chips
