Backgammon is a widely accepted board game across the world and it has its unique set of rules and regulations. The online backgammon rules are similar to that of the real board game; these rules had been officially inscribed in Edmund Hoyle’s treatise on the game in 1743. Roll of dice

The online backgammon rules like that of the board game states movements should be based on the roll of a dice. The first roll decides the starter for the game, whereas the moves can be played according to the roll of the pair of dice. Scores on each dice can be taken for an individual move of the checkers.

Checker movement

The checkers can move along the 24 columns, towards the home board; these moves should be decided by the roll of the dice. According to online backgammon rules, if the roll is 5 and 4, then the player is entitled to move his checkers by 5 or 4 spaces respectively. However, if the space is occupied by more than one of opponent’s checker move to that space is not allowed. Nevertheless, you can always hit a single checker with your move, but no extra roll is awarded. After hits, you may roll back from stand off position back to the play, but if the opponent’s home board is not vacant, you are allowed no moves at all.

Type of wins

While playing the game several conditions may arise, and thus, there are certain online backgammon rules that define each individually. If a person wins, then he gets the share that had been played for. However, consider a situation when an individual has all his checkers off the board, but his opponent fails to bear off even a single; this situation is gammon and opponent loses double the share. Further, if bear off takes place and opponent does not have a single checker in his home board; the condition is backgammon and he loses triple of the bet.
