Backgammon tips and tricks

Article by: honest-casinos.com

Backgammon is a great game, is simple and fascinating once you’ve deepened the rules of the game.

It is a game of skills and of luck played by two persons with 15 checkers. There are 24 points or spaces on the game board, the checkers being moved by players according to the rolls of the two dice. Each player tries to bring his checkers home and be the first one to bear the checkers off, before his opponent does. Each player can also hit and block his enemy on the way to the finish line.

During the game you may get the chance to redouble - if the other player doubles you to two, you can redouble him to four when it is your turn to roll the dice. You can also build a blockade. You have to place your checkers right in front of the other player’s checkers, without any gaps, to prevent his escape from your home board, the process being called a blockade. If you can build a blockade from six checkers in a row, with no gaps, there is no way your opponent can escape.

Another tip would be the anchors – where to win all you have to do is to establish some anchors or defensive points in the enemy’s home board. Another clever thing you can do is try to place your checkers more evenly across the game board. By this way you will have more flexibility to use rolls in your advantage.

After a little practice not just you’ll enjoy the game, but will see the overall picture. By this I mean to see trough the whole board. Doing so you’ll always have a plan and will be constantly ready to change from one roll to the next one, be in guard at all times and won’t loose your head if the dice shows different then expected. After all, asides the skills Backgammon involves luck as well.

The rules of the game may seem confusing at first, but at a deeper look, it is a very easy game to learn and to play. The best way to learn is to play with someone who understands the game and keep a copy of your backgammon rules close at hand.

The main objective is to move all of your game pieces from one side of the playing board to the other, eventually removing your pieces from the board. You are the winner if you are the first player who moved all of his/her pieces off the board.

If you know all the most important rules and you try to learn as much as possibile, you will have the chance to win at online casinos.
